Curriculum
Reception and KS1
In this part of the school, pupils are taught mainly by their form teachers supported by classroom assistants. We aim to provide small children with a strong sense of security during their first years in the school. Fairseat is a happy place to learn.
KS2
As girls progress through the Junior School, the teaching remains form-based but with additional specialist teaching in Music, PE and French. They are encouraged to become independent learners and, through a variety of teaching strategies, to achieve an increased love of learning and knowledge of the wider world.
The Middle School
Years 7-9 form the Middle School, which has its own building, Brunner House, and its own Head of Section. There are four parallel forms in years 7 and 8, but girls are taught in much smaller groups in many subjects right from the start.
The Upper School
Girls in Years 10 and 11, the GCSE years, form the Upper School. Each year group is divided into three form groups; class sizes rarely go above 20 and are often much less.
The Sixth Form
Sixth formers are integral to the life of the school and play important leadership roles at Channing. The Sixth Form Centre provides a superb base for study and social life. The atmosphere in the Sixth Form is informal but purposeful. Girls wear their own clothes and our very small teaching groups foster friendly and supportive relationships between staff and girls.
