Mathematics

Mathematics Week 2013

Monday's Problems

Tuesday's Problems

Wednesday's Problems

Thursday's Problems

Friday's Problems

Whether you find Mathematics easy or hard, we hope that every girl at Channing enjoys studying this subject.

There are many components in the make up of a good mathematician. Mastery of the basic skills, particularly algebraic, is essential. Equally important is an appetite for a challenge, a desire to wrestle with problems where the solution is not immediately obvious and where tenacity, perseverance and imagination are needed.

The Mathematics Department at Channing is committed to helping each pupil reach her potential in the subject and hopefully to have fun along the way!

Competitions

Every year students enter several mathematics competitions. The Hans Woyda Quiz is an inter-schools contest in which teams compete to answer Mathematics questions correctly. Some of the questions are very difficult and leave the teachers flummoxed!

Pupils wishing to get involved in the Hans Woyda Quiz should come along every Monday lunchtime at 1.40pm.

We are also hoping to host our own inter-house Hans Woyda style competition next term – watch this space!

We also enter students for the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Maths Challenges
