5, 4, 3, 2, 1…..Blast off! After intensive astronaut training at Space School, Year 5 were ready to take control of their lunar space craft and go where no school girl has gone before. Science topic of Earth, Sun and Moon and the girls enjoyed making a space shuttle, landing on the Moon and sending a postcard home detailing their findings. As one astronaut reported back, “From Fairseat to the Moon, every step has been an adventure!”
The patter of tiny feathered feet
This term, Year 4 said “hello” to their new form teacher and wished their old teachers “good luck”as they went on maternity leave. Mrs Morgan’s baby is due first – at the end of March – while Mrs Hawkins expects her new arrival at the end of April.
As The Channing Times goes to press, we are all waiting with baited breath to hear
whether they have boys or girls. In the meantime, Year 4 are expecting
the patter of tiny feet themselves! They will be taking delivery of a batch of hen’s eggs,
complete with a nice warm incubator, in early May. As they hatch, there will be daily reports and updates straight from the Year 4 classroom.
In History, we have been studying The Tudors and have a fabulous trip planned to the Tower of London. We will be very disappointed if we don’t see the ghost of Sir Walter Raleigh strolling along the ramparts.
Gardening Club springs to life
When I first saw Gardening Cub on the club list, I was already excited. Now I am
actually in this amazing club, I know really how fun it is. We plant both seeds and bulbs, water plants around the school, take care of the school garden and flower
pots and much more!
We have even made our own indoor gardens. I have made loads of new friends from other classes as well as having so much fun! Gardening Club is on Thursday after school but we don’t just care for our plants on that day, we check and care for our plants every day! I can’t wait to do gardening club in the Spring and Summer because we will be able to go outside even more!
