Parental Responsibility

Parents must accept responsibility for their daughter’s welfare and are asked not to send her into school if she is infectious, has been suffering from diarrhoea or vomiting in the previous 48 hours or is unable to attend and participate fully in lessons.

Parents will be informed and asked to collect their child if she becomes ill or sustains an injury and is unable to continue with lessons. Girls may not go home unless she has been seen by the Nurse and given permission to leave. The Headmistress/Head of Junior School/Deputy Head may give permission in the absence of the Nurse.

Girls will not be sent home to an empty house. This will only be waived in exceptional circumstances for older pupils, if the nurse feels it is appropriate and has their parents’ permission.

Parents must ensure that any medicines provided for use at school are in date and replacements are sent in prior to their expiration. Expired medicines cannot be administered and will be disposed of.

Parents can contact the nurse to discuss any medical concerns they have about their daughter.
