Wings of Hope
Many congratulations to six Year 10 girls who have beaten hundreds of pupils to win an amazing trip to India this Summer.
Emma Roberts, Courtney Marks, Bonnie Groves, Alexandra Wylie, Kristina Gadsby and Maddy O'Bryen were declared the winning team of the Wings of Hope Achievement Award. The girls beat 1,400 other pupils from across the UK by raising money for Wings of Hope and for completing a project to highlight their experience.
The girls learned they had won the award at the Wings of Hope Gala Ball, held at Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel in central London on 26 April. They will travel to Chennai in Southern India in their Summer holidays, where they will work as teachers at a school supported by the Wings of Hope children's charity and travel around the region.
Wings of Hope provides free education to poor and orphaned children in developing countries. All the money raised by the pupils who took part in the competition will go towards the charity's two projects - a school in India and an orphan support group in Lilongwe, Malawi.
