Tuesday 17 June saw clear blue skies and Year 7 embarking on an exciting whistle-stop tour of the London Docklands on a Geography field trip.

Our aim: to investigate changes in urban land use over time.

Our adventures began at Archway station where we caught the tube to Tower Hill to consider the site of the Tower of London and admire the views from Tower Bridge.
We then headed to the glamorous marina of St Katherine’s Dock, looking for clues about what it was like in the past. There was also time for a well-needed sit-down and some fruity frappuccinos!

The next stop was Canary Wharf, where The Apprentice is filmed, to marvel at the gleaming skyscrapers, the tallest of which is 51 floors high! We filled in some our our booklet questions before squeezing on the DLR to Greenwich. Here we had a pleasurable lunch next to the Greenwich Meridian.

After lunch, we caught the boat back to Westminster – the best way to appreciate the bridges and spectacular riverside architecture like City Hall where Boris Johnson (Mayor of London) works.

It was a great trip and we would like to thank the teachers for organising the day out.
