Middle School
Year 7
Each year the new Year 7s always have two opportunities to meet their form tutor and the other girls in their form: the first time is during the Summer term in Year 6 when they visit Channing with their parents; the second is the Induction Day the day before term begins in September, when they have fun doing a quiz to find their way around the school.
Each Year 7 girl has a Big Sister in Year 8 whose responsibility it is to help settle the new Year 7 girl into Channing. They meet during the Summer term visit and exchange telephone numbers or email addresses so that they can be in contact with each other during the holiday.
All the girls in the Middle School have form rooms together in Brunner House.
Every year, in September, all the new Year 7s spend a weekend away in Carroty Wood in Kent. They camp for one night in a beautiful woodland setting and experience a variety of challenging activities, including abseiling, parascending, team games, swimming and they have a campfire. They make lots of new friends across the whole yeargroup and have great fun.
Year 8
All girls in Year 8 spend a week in Normandy staying in a chateau. They have an interesting, varied programme of activities and visits and have a most enjoyable week.
Year 9
Every year, all girls in Year 9 have the opportunity to visit the Battlefields of the First World War in France and Belgium to enhance their History and English studies.
Each Summer term all Year 9 girls go to Stubbers, an activity centre where you can take part in many exciting activities from banana boating to rock climbing and team challenges.
