Charity Events 2011/12
Each Year group in the school is assigned one week in the year when they organise events throughout the week to raise money for the chosen School Charity. The girls always hold a cake sale and a whole school event, like a fair or talent show. They may hold competitions or show a film. Considerable planning and organisation go into these events and much fun is had by all, as well as the impressive sums of money raised for a worthwhile cause.
Year 7 Charity Week March 2012
Year 7 held a very successful Crazy Charity Week. They watched the film "Alice in Wonderland", made crazy cakes and asked the whole school to wear crazy legs on Friday, which was a colourful sight indeed! In the cake competition, many girls demonstrated originality, skill and great enthusiasm with their entries. We had an Alice in Wonderland themed cake, complete with Mad Hatter's hat, clock, hearts and roses; a clever Pacman cake; a silver Alien cake with swimming pool, sun loungers and diving board; a green Shrek cake; a sweet mouse on a lump of cheese cake; popcorn cakes; pretty, marbled cakes and glitter cakes and even a delightful, brightly coloured Smarties and KitKat cake. Year 7 had great fun baking and selling their cakes to a hungry clientele and made nearly £200 in the short time available. Thanks to all those who helped, participated and gave generously to the School Charity. Well done, Year 7.

Year 9 Charity Week December 2011
Year 9 held an outstanding Charity week this week with a creative variety of events all in aid of the school charity, Planting Promise. There was an unusual slant on our Channing cakes sales: there was the best-looking and the best-tasting cake competition & there was a delightful array of cakes from a Reindeer cake, to burger cakes, to a polar bear cake and many wonderful fairy cakes. Rachel Fleminger Hudson & Amelia Stewart held a Live Aid Concert which gave a platform for our very own Year 9 Band, the soulful voice of Emily Bleakley, the charming voice of Jemima Cedar and many others. Finally, crazy nails were celebrated on Friday. A marvellous week with a great deal of money raised! Well done to all girls in Year 9 who helped to organise this very successful week.
