Music at Lunchtime – Friday 22nd April

What an aperitif to start our Summer Term! Just three days in and Music at Lunchtime thrilled. Cayetana (7DZ) Clarinet, gave a confident and secure performance of ‘The Spy who went out to the cold’. 007 would have been impressed! This left us ‘Shaken not stirred’; amusingly the instruction at the start of the music! Haroula (10W) Guitar gently yet enchantingly performed two very decidedly Spanish flavour pieces; Tarantelle by Mertz and Tango en Skai by Dyens. Treating us to the gamut of timbres that the guitar is capable of, these provided a wonderful tempting reminder of warm Spanish evenings, complete with toes tapping. It was left to Elizabeth (9SH) Violin to perform the 1st Movement from Sonata for Violin Op.82 by Elgar, What an experience, as she so eloquently delivered a wonderfully lush, lyrical, majestic and sonorous reading.
