Lasy week we have had three days of ABRSM practical examinations at both the Senior School and the Junior School. Our students have acquitted themselves superbly and we await the results with anticipation.
Our Theory candidates, however, need wait no longer as their results were announced this week. All of our students passed their examination but of particular note is Sophie Sutliff who gained 100% in her grade II examination. Congratulations additionally to: Katherine Bettis, Olivia Seddon-Deane, Ottilie Whiteman and Alia Khalouf who all took grade V THeory.
One of our candidates this week was the first pupil ever at Channing to enter two diplomas. Last term Kate Pennington (Year 13) passed her ARSM Diploma in Singing and this term took her ARSM Diploma in Violoncello! A real feat to take two diplomas before leaving school and in successive terms!
Also in our music news, Constance Froment and Emily Brown both successfully auditioned for the London Youth Wind Band. Well done, Constance and Emily!
Congratulations also goes to Ellen Mcdonald for being awarded a coveted soprano place in the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and to Sophie Dain who auditioned and has been awarded a place in the National Youth Girls Choir of Great Britain. An excellent achievement!
Music at Lunchtime
Last week was the final lunchtime recital of 2018, and it began with a festive performance of ‘Carol of the Bells’ played by Intermediate Flute Ensemble. We were then treated to delightful performances on clarinet, flute, trumpet, flute and clarinet from Sasha Butler, Salma Ansari, Harriet Sumners, Emily Brown and Martha Sayer. Senior Flute Ensemble brought our recital to a close with a rousing performance of ‘Sweet Child of Mine’. You can click on the link below to hear the recital on SoundCloud. Congratulations and thank you to all our performers this term. We will be back for an exciting programme of recitals in the New Year. https://soundcloud.com/channing-school/lunchtime-concert-071218
