Sixth Form Concert – 28th April 2021

The Sixth Form Concert on Wednesday is traditionally the time when we celebrate the achievements of our eldest students and delight in the consummate musicians they have developed into. This year even the restrictions in place couldn’t dampen the celebratory atmosphere and sheer wonder of what the privileged and supportive audience heard!  For our Year 12 and 13 A level students this also provided the opportunity to hear the performance element of their exam. It would be wrong to single out a particular performance, each was stunning in its own right, but given that the programme featured Yuki Wu and Hannah Schlenker (Violinists) Yasmin Byng, Talia Nabarro, Maeve Gallagher, Melissa Redman, Saskia Kirkegaard, and Lara Dailey (Singers) Abigail Ornadel (Euphonium) Alexandra Cronkshaw (Bassoon) Cocoa Wagner (Flute) Antonie Benkert and Anika Anand (Piano) Niamh Walters (Harp) Catherine Butler (Violoncello) the sheer diversity of instruments and repertoire on offer was astounding. From Bach to Sondheim, Elgar to John Williams, Mozart to Gershwin almost every genre of music was represented giving an amazing display of the breadth and talents of our students musical tastes. The fact that this standard of concert could be produced when they have been ‘locked down’ for much of the year is indeed a huge testament to the strength of our performers. Their ability to communicate to an audience really sums up what a (in some cases 13 year!!!) Channing education can do!!
Thank you all for a truly memorable evening. For those of you unable to join us, do sit back, relax and enjoy the video.
