Year 11 Drama Performances
Last week saw Year 11 GCSE Drama Students sit their Component 1 Examination. Annually, these political performances, devised by the students themselves and inspired by the methods of theatre practitioner Bertolt Brecht, prove to be provocative. This year’s cohort successfully managed to capture the zeitgeist of modern Britain, with its divisions and uncertainty, with some stand out moments from both individual performers and group sequences. Students demonstrated an impressive level of intellectual engagement with topical issues which are both weighty and nuanced. The work explored complex concepts ranging from; Brexit, meat and the environment, prison reform, refugees, abuse and knife crime, with a thoughtfulness and sincerity which gave the audience much to reflect upon. Special thanks goes to Mr Copson, whose technical support ensured the evening ran smoothly.
