Year 8 visit to Verulamium

Year 8 visited the Roman town of Verulamium (St Albans) on Wednesday and enjoyed a fun day of artefact handling, performing a Latin play in the Roman theatre, learning about mosaics and hypocausts and exploring the wonderful objects in the Verulamium Museum’s collection. They’ll produce an illustrated journal from the perspective of a Briton living in Verulamium, inspired perhaps by the beautiful statuette of Venus, the strigil we held in the handling session or the famous shell mosaic. Many thanks to Ms Melvin for organising the trip.
