On Tuesday 24th September, we went to the ‘Art History Futures’ conference at the Dulwich Picture Gallery. This experience enriched us on the opportunities and wide range of future careers available for Art History students. We heard from a variety of speakers such as undergraduate and postgraduate Art History students and the Education Team from the National Gallery who spoke about their incredible experiences studying Art History. The Assistant Curator at the Dulwich Picture Gallery, Lucy West, shared her fascinating career journey and how she uses the skills she learned in Art History in her day-to-day life in this position. Moreover, we had an Art History personal statement workshop, which was particularly useful for the year 13s. Overall, the trip was not only useful and informative on the potential careers available to Art History students, but incredibly fascinating and engaging.
