Open Days at the Junior and Senior School take place in the Summer and Autumn terms. We would like to invite you to one of our Open Days to see what makes Channing such a special school. You will meet the Headmistress, staff, and pupils and have an opportunity to ask questions. Book Your Visit.

Chance Vacancies arise occasionally in other years that allow admissions, other than the main entry points.

What age can my daughter join Channing School?

Channing is an independent day school for girls aged 4 to 18, in Highgate, North London. The main entry points are at 4+ (Reception, Junior School), 11+ (Year 7, Senior School) and 16+ (Sixth Form). Occasional places in other year groups are offered when they arise as chance vacancies.

Is Channing a day school or a boarding school?

Channing is a day school. Around 90% of our pupils live within a four-mile radius of the school. We are well-served by local buses and a nine-minute walk from Archway and Highgate underground stations.

How do I apply for a place?

Applications are made online through our OpenApply applications portal. Separate forms are available for 4+, 11+ and 16+ entry, as well as for chance (occasional) vacancies. Once you have registered, our Admissions Office will guide you through the assessment and offer stages.

How competitive is entry to Channing?

Channing is consistently recognised as one of the best independent schools in North London and places are in high demand, so we encourage families to register early.

Can I visit the school before applying?

Yes. We warmly encourage families to visit. You can book onto an open day, take a virtual open day or a 360 virtual tour, or contact the Admissions Office to arrange a visit. Seeing the school in person is the best way to get a feel for life on Highgate Hill.
