Music Theatre Evening – Thursday 13th February 2025

Posted: 27th February 2025

On the Thursday before half-term, eight of our talented Music Theatre examination candidates took to the stage at the Arundel Centre for a wonderful evening of musical performances. The event showcased a variety of songs from beloved musicals, highlighting the students’ vocal prowess, acting skills, and stage presence.

The evening opened with an energetic and captivating performance of Honey, Honey from Mamma Mia, delivered superbly by Hattie H from Year 10. This was followed by a heartfelt and moving rendition of Castle on a Cloud from Les Misérables by Year 7 student Evie D, who brought great delicacy to the performance.

Next, Hettie F from Year 8 delighted the audience with a charming and characterised performance of Quiet from Matilda, capturing the essence of the song beautifully. Adding a dynamic contrast, Manon D, also from Year 8, delivered a power-packed and highly physical performance of Red Ryder Carbine Action BB Gun from A Christmas Story, demonstrating great energy and stage presence.

The second half of the evening showcased our Sixth Form candidates, all of whom are either preparing for Grade VIII or a Diploma in Music Theatre. Scarlett D gave a poignant and emotionally charged performance of There Are Worse Things I Could Do from Grease, demonstrating strong characterisation and vocal control. Saskia C then took the stage with In His Eyes from Jekyll and Hyde, exhibiting impressive breath control and vocal strength.

Georgie G followed with two polished performances: A Part of That from The Last Five Years and Adelaide’s Lament from Guys and Dolls, both of which showcased her exceptional acting and vocal versatility. The final performer of the night, Evie M, captivated the audience with Stars and the Moon from Songs for a New World before closing the evening with a show-stopping rendition of Don’t Rain on My Parade from Funny Girl. Her performances demonstrated both dramatic intensity and remarkable vocal technique.

We would like to extend our best wishes to all our Music Theatre candidates, especially those in Year 11 and Year 13 who were unable to perform due to their mock examinations. Their assessments will take place on the 6th and 7th of March, and we wish them every success.
