Magazine cover with a stylized brain: left side black-and-white with math scribbles, right side bright, multicolored swirls. A green banner in the top-right reads 'CHANNING Neuro Narratives Issue 3', and a green caption at bottom notes it's by psychology students at Channing School.

Channing School is proud to celebrate the release of the third edition of Neuro Narratives, a magazine entirely written and produced by our A Level psychology students. This latest issue showcases an impressive range of student-led research and insight, highlighting both creativity and academic curiosity.

What makes Neuro Narratives particularly special is its authenticity. As emphasised in the welcome message by Head of Psychology, Mr Philip Starr, every article is “designed and written by the students, in their own words with no teacher input or editing” . This ensures that each piece reflects genuine student voice, originality, and independent thinking—key skills that are central to studying psychology.

The third edition explores a wide variety of fascinating topics, demonstrating the breadth of interests within the department. Readers can delve into the psychology of dreams and their interpretations, examine the serious consequences of sleep deprivation, and consider complex social issues such as family separation and its impact on childhood development. Other articles investigate areas such as celebrity culture, social media, and decision-making, offering thoughtful analysis grounded in psychological theory.

Beyond the content itself, the magazine represents a significant achievement for the students involved. Producing a publication of this quality requires not only subject knowledge, but also dedication, collaboration, and a commitment to intellectual exploration. Mr Starr commends the contributors for their “passion and diligence,” recognising that their efforts are the foundation of the magazine’s continued success .

Neuro Narratives also invites its readers to think more deeply about the world around them. The welcome encourages students to “challenge preconceived notions” and broaden their perspectives—an aim that is clearly reflected throughout the publication.

We encourage all members of the school community to read this latest edition and celebrate the outstanding work of our psychology students. Whether you are interested in human behaviour, mental health, or simply enjoy engaging writing, Neuro Narratives offers something for everyone.
