Becoming part of our famously loyal and supportive school

When a girl joins Channing she becomes part of the famously loyal and supportive Channing ‘family’ of pupils, teachers and Old Girls (Channing Alumnae). Everyone is equally valued for their contribution, and that includes our ever-helpful catering staff whose excellent lunches keep us going during the School day.

The Channing Community embraces causes both within the School and those in the local community. So, whether it’s fund-raising cake sales for the nominated School Charity, helping out at the local branch of Oxfam or working at The Harrington Scheme, a nearby organisation that works with young adults with learning difficulties, you’ll experience first-hand the rewards that helping others can bring.

Our own alumnae are particularly active in helping current students by providing access to a strong network of work contacts. An increasing number regularly return to the School to give talks on their chosen profession and open doors to internship or work experience opportunities.

Parents automatically become members of the Channing Association, the primary purpose of which is to help parents and pupils get to know one another better. Whole School events include the much-acclaimed November Fireworks Display together with regular Quiz Nights and Wine Tastings. Junior School events include the New Families Tea in September and the annual Social Evening for girls in Years 5 & 6 and their parents. Senior School events include the Year 7 & 8 disco and the Sixth Form Ball.
