2024 - 2025 Highlights: Junior School Philosophy (P4C)
Ever wondered what makes a true philosopher? Stephen Fry says it’s not about having all the answers, but asking the right questions. This year, our Junior School embraced SAPERE (soon to be Thoughtful) and its P4C approach. From happiness in Reception to beauty in Year 6, pupils explored big ideas, developed the 4Cs—Caring, Collaborative, Creative & Critical thinking—and learned to question the world with curiosity and confidence.
2024 - 2025 Highlights: Religion, Philosophy & Ethics
Channing’s RPE students explored major religions, philosophy, and ethics through creative projects, debates, and competitions. Highlights included Year 7’s Buddhist Monk presentations, Year 8’s research on Christian denominations, and A Level students’ independent reading projects and essay competition entries. From Spirited Arts to national contests, students showcased curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking throughout the year.
2024 - 2025 Highlights: Psychology
Year 12 leaders ran a popular Psychology Society and have been working on articles for Neuro Narratives. Year 9 pupils explored animal behaviour through the Extended Learners Project. Channing also hosted the Girls’ Schools Association Psychology Cluster Meeting and is planning an exciting lecture series for next year.
2024 - 2025 Highlights: Politics
Our Model UN team excelled at two conferences. Year 12 hosted MP/MEP David Sumberg, who shared anecdotes—like sitting behind Sir Geoffrey Howe during Thatcher’s resignation speech—and career advice. In February, students toured the southern US, visited the Martin Luther King Centre and Rosa Parks Museum, and experienced Mardi Gras. The academic highlight was a Westminster conference on “the state of the state,” where students posed sharp questions to MPs.
