Channing, an independent school based in North London, where girls aged 4 to 18 can discover their interests, develop their talents, and build lasting friendships. Our inspiring environment fosters academic achievement and personal growth.
The school actively prepares pupils for the future.
A visionary all-girls school full of extremely confident, capable and engaging young women.
‘Fearless’ teaching and learning, encouraging girls to step out of their comfort zone and be ‘10 per cent braver’, is reaping academic rewards. It is a useful life lesson too, but not at the expense of school being fun.
Excellent academics, fantastic pastoral care and a wonderful way of imbuing girls with self-confidence, Channing makes a strong argument for single-sex education.
Girls throw themselves into all aspects of school life, and teacher commitment goes way beyond the classroom.

Channing School’s Art Department is taking centre stage at Avivson Gallery with Do What No Other Can Do, a new exhibition celebrating the creativity and individual practices of our Junior and Senior art teaching staff.
From oil painting and collage to etching, installation and monoprinting, the exhibition reveals the rich artistic lives of the teachers who inspire our pupils every day.
The latest episode of Chatting with Channing goes behind the scenes, as members of the Art Department discuss their work, the ideas behind the exhibition and why active creative practice is so important to inspired teaching.

The MFL Department celebrated Europe Week with alumna Dr Lauren Ingram who gave students a fascinating talk on how languages prepare you for a global future with AI. She studied Linguistics with French, and built her career in marketing with companies including Meta and Amazon. She is also an entrepreneur and founder of Next Big Thing consultancy, helping women break into AI and emerging tech.
Our Junior European Parliament Ambassadors delivered lessons on democracy to Year 8 students which were very well received and the week was rounded off with our annual French, German and Spanish tonguetwister challenge.
Head of the Junior School, Miss Dina Hamalis, recently appeared on the @hmc_org podcast to discuss Character Education at Channing.
We believed our pupils would benefit from having a visible set of clearly defined character traits, supported by relatable characters that could be woven throughout every aspect of their educational experience.
The Junior School community has enthusiastically embraced Character Education, with the characters referenced in a variety of ways across the school. These include focused assemblies for pupils, talks for parents, posters displayed in classrooms and shared spaces, Year 6 pupils writing stories inspired by each character, and teachers and support staff recognising pupils who demonstrate these traits with stickers and certificates.
