Channing is consistently recognised as one of the best independent schools in North London; an independent school for girls aged 4 to 18, based in Highgate, where every pupil is encouraged to discover their interests, develop their talents, and build lasting friendships. Our inspiring environment fosters academic achievement and personal growth.
The school actively prepares pupils for the future.
A visionary all-girls school full of extremely confident, capable and engaging young women.
‘Fearless’ teaching and learning, encouraging girls to step out of their comfort zone and be ‘10 per cent braver’, is reaping academic rewards. It is a useful life lesson too, but not at the expense of school being fun.
Excellent academics, fantastic pastoral care and a wonderful way of imbuing girls with self-confidence, Channing makes a strong argument for single-sex education.
Girls throw themselves into all aspects of school life, and teacher commitment goes way beyond the classroom.

Channing’s computing department has enjoyed a vibrant year of fearless learning, creativity and collaboration. Pupils explored the STEM behind Disneyland Paris, achieved exceptional results in the Bebras challenges and earned distinctions, merits and gold awards. Year 7 pupils showcased digital creativity through the Henney Computer Graphics Competition, coding club and an international robotics workshop with visitors from Hong Kong. Robotics and coding clubs developed teamwork and engineering skills, while classroom projects brought Python, JavaScript, micro and Marty robots to life. Across Years 7 to 12, pupils strengthened their programming, problem-solving and computational thinking through imaginative, practical and inspiring experiences together.
2025 - 2026 Highlights: Classics
It has been a brilliant year for Classics at Channing! Highlights included student-led Classics Society talks and quizzes, our January symposium with partner schools, British Museum visits, and theatre trips to Hadestown, Hercules and Warwick’s Ancient Drama Festival. Year 7 pupils impressed in the national Ovid Competition and explored Roman Britain at Verulamium. Our outreach programme also continued to grow, with Minimus sessions for local primary schools and Latin Club pupils completing OCR’s Entry Level Latin qualification. From ancient art and drama to mythology and languages, pupils embraced every opportunity with curiosity and enthusiasm. We are already looking forward to Rome in 2027!
