Over the past several weeks, two classmates and I have been volunteering every Tuesday at Brookfield Primary School teaching Year 6 Brookfield and St. Joseph’s students Latin and classical myths. During this period, we’ve helped them advance their vocabulary and basic grammar skills while also incorporating their different styles of learning. Each student has their own preferred learning style, whether it be drawing out a storyboard, collaboratively translating texts or even acting out a story. So far we have covered the myths of Perseus and Medusa and Daedalus and Icarus. We have thoroughly enjoyed the teaching and it has been a very rewarding experience to pass on the knowledge we have appreciated learning over our school careers.
