Music at Lunch

It was good to be back in the Arundel Centre for last Friday’s lunchtime recital.Another very large audience of students, parents and staff gave their appreciation of the sparkling performance of Nordin’s ‘Schottis’ played by Natalia B (violin), Simran T, (violin), Zoe Q (viola) and Yutao W (Cello). It was a real pleasure to have two of our performers today sing and play on the piano their own compositions. Firstly we had Alaia P who gave a heartfelt performance of her song – ‘Brick wall- lies, lies, lies’. It was then the turn of the violin as Yasmin L displayed her technical prowess in Vivaldi’s Violin Concerto in D Minor. In complete contrast Flora G gave a stylistic and moving performance of Bloch’s ‘Prayer’ on the cello. Then came the second of our young composers, with Beatrice M impressing the audience with her song, ‘Stuck in the middle’.The recital closed with Yanna H dancing over the keyboard in a delightful performance of the jazz inspired piece, ‘Jingo’ by Chris Norton. Do listen to their performances here:
