Moving into a hostel or temporary housing is a choice no one ever wants to make; the first few days can be especially overwhelming. We are proud to be working with Highgate Newtown Community Partners (HNCP) to support vulnerable people who find themselves in this position. That’s why the Friday before the Easter break approximately 40 Channing students gave up their Friday afternoon to help build and pack just under 100 Comfort Boxes for people they had never met. The boxes contain essentials that will make those first few days easier to bear including a selection of dried goods, tins of soup, beans, tea, coffee and so on to keep those in need going while they find their feet. We included toiletries too to make their arrival at their new short term accommodation a little more comfortable. The students worked tirelessly and with good cheer, packing, sealing and stacking the boxes which have now gone off to Camden Council’s Homelessness teams who will ensure that they reach those who need them most.
