The Music Revue – Wednesday 5th July

Posted: 7th July 2023

Channing Music Revue

This was the first time we used the Arundel Centre for a large-scale concert which began with our fabulous, 60 strong, Concert Orchestra playing a medley of Coldplay Classics. We had a delightful Viola trio led by Miss Worn and a beautiful Mexican lullaby from a Year 9 Vocal Trio. Two of our string ensembles performed; the Cremona Strings with two pieces from ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and the Senior Strings delighted with arrangements of ‘Save your tears’ and ‘Feeling Good’. Our Contemporary Music Ensemble gave us a great foot tapping rendition of ‘Stand by me’. We had three choirs performing, starting with the Conabor Choir which sang a trio of contrasting songs finishing with a real ‘Earworm’! The Brunner Show Choir gave stunning performances of ‘Speechless’ and ‘Price Tag’ and our final act was the Chamber Choir singing a lovely Irish song ‘Shule Aroon’ with a beautiful violin obbligato from Elizabeth S, followed by the exciting and fun ‘Made you look’ sung a capella.

At the end we said two goodbyes to our viola teacher of 10 years, Miss Pip Worn and to Mr Chris Thorpe who has been here since September and established our new Contemporary Music Ensemble. A big thank you to Mr Maliphant-Gray for all his hard work with the sound and the lighting and organising the excellent front of house team. Our sincere thanks to the whole music team for all their hard work in producing another great year of music making. In particular thanks go to Miss Jenny Bacon, to Miss Alice Purton, to Mrs Helen Daniels and to Miss Leisha Zanardo – the dream musical team!
