On Tuesday, 2nd December, the Year 12 Art History class took a trip to the Victoria & Albert Museum. Our visit focused on sculpture, particularly pieces that explored the relationship between man and nature. We were lucky to see works by Giambologna, an artist we have studied closely in class. We also sought out the famous copy of Michelangelo’s iconic David. The art historians had a great time — it was a really informative trip!

This week, the LAMDA students had a special double lesson. First, in pairs, they practised theory. In the Acting Examination, there is a viva voce section, worth one fifth of the marks, where they are asked questions about their character and the techniques they use. Throughout the term, the students have generated ideas and completed worksheets for homework. This week, they had the chance to put on their best ‘examiner’ voice and speak their answers aloud (a kind of performance in itself).
They then performed their duologue scenes to a new audience, who gave extremely insightful post-it and verbal feedback. It was wonderful to see them rise to the challenge of live theatre and enjoy the vibrancy of the different scenes and characters. Now they have the task of keeping these scenes alive and growing over the break as we move on to their monologue choices next term.
