We have published our ambitious 10-year strategy designed to ensure Channing students are well-prepared to navigate and contribute meaningfully to a rapidly changing world.
At a parent meeting to launch the new strategy, Headmistress, Lindsey Hughes, said, “We believe that the existing vision of Girls Enjoying Success remains central to our purpose as a school. It encapsulates our academic ambition, our genuine care for individuals and our emphasis on pupil voice. Our Unitarian ethos underpins the nature of our school community, giving us our values and the Channing Promise, by which we all live.
Fundamentally we couldn’t put it better than William Ellery Channing. His beautiful line, “Each of us is intended to have a character all our own, to be what no other can exactly be and do what no other can exactly do”, encapsulates our mission to create individual outcomes for every child.”
Chair of Governors, Leanne Leigh, added, “As we approach Channing’s 140th birthday, I am humbled by the knowledge that we are custodians of a rich legacy. Our responsibility is to honour the vision and dedication of those who came before us whilst ensuring the school continues to thrive and evolve for generations to come.
The world is now a vastly different place to that of 140 years ago. We all know the pressures our young people face, from the impact of social media, to environmental challenges, economic uncertainty, and political instability. These forces can sometimes feel overwhelming. Our 2035 Strategic Objectives offer us a clear and inspiring roadmap. These objectives guide us to not only preserve the proud history of Channing, but to ensure that we remain a dynamic, forward-thinking school in an ever-changing world.”
