Dear Parents
Congratulations to the Year 3 girls on their fantastic assembly on Ancient Egypt this morning! It was an absolute joy to watch them bring history to life with such enthusiasm, confidence and teamwork. Their storytelling, acting and ability to share fascinating historical facts in such an engaging way made the assembly both educational and entertaining.
The girls transported us back in time with humour, energy and incredible stage presence. They captured the grandeur of the pharaohs, the mystery of the afterlife and even the mischief of the tomb raiders, who were rather pleased with how easy the pyramids made their job. We were treated to lively debates on which Egyptian god should be honoured in statue form, fascinating facts about Queen Nefertari’s elaborate wigs and a glimpse into the intriguing world of Ancient Egyptian beauty rituals. The girls’ expressive performances and well-rehearsed lines ensured that every scene was both compelling and informative, holding the audience spellbound from start to finish.
Watching them perform instantly transported me back to my childhood trip to Egypt with my brother and grandmother when I was about the same age as the girls are now. I can still picture myself standing beneath the towering pyramids, gazing up in sheer fascination and disbelief that human hands had crafted such colossal wonders thousands of years ago. The Great Sphinx with its enigmatic expression seemed to watch over us as we explored the ancient sands, while the Egyptian Museum dazzled us with its glittering treasures – golden masks, intricate statues and mummies that told stories of a long-lost civilisation. Riding a camel across the desert was an adventure in itself, the swaying motion both thrilling and slightly terrifying. The heat, the history, the sheer magic of it all – it was a journey that left me in awe, much like I hope these girls will feel on their own adventures.
It was evident how much effort the girls had put into learning their assembly lines, working together and delivering their parts with expression and clarity. Their dedication and teamwork truly shone through and they should feel immensely proud of what they have achieved. The creativity and commitment they displayed were remarkable: this made the performance a true celebration of their hard work and enthusiasm for learning.
A huge thank you also to the Year 3 teachers for their guidance and encouragement, and to you as parents for your ongoing support. Assemblies like this take time, practice and commitment, and it was wonderful to see the girls rise to the challenge with such confidence and excitement.
We look forward to welcoming our Year 3 parents on Wednesday morning to see this fabulous assembly for themselves. It will be performed in Fairseat Hall from 8.30am to 9.00am. To watch your daughter’s performance, please arrive no earlier than 8:25am, when you will be asked to sign in at the iron gates and will be escorted to Fairseat Hall by our Specialist Teachers. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
With warm wishes
